This is my first portrait light set. I bought it, and it came without the shortest stand, but they fixed this omission amazingly quickly. Once I started practicing, I decided I needed brighter bulbs; I was using ISO 500 to 800 with an F1.7 lens. I got three 105W bulbs, Longstar model FE-IIIB-105W LongStar 00037 FE-IIIB-105W/50K 5 8 Tube Screw Base Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb.

The parts are easy to assemble, and seem well made for the price. If I were going to make a living shooting portraits, I’d probably try to find something more rugged, but for a general photographer with an occasional need for portrait lights, this is a very good choice.

If it disappered tomorrow, I’d buy the exact same thing.

Edit; I’ve used this setup several times for almost a year now. The metal bases that the bulbs screw into have come loose on each of the three bases. Kind of annoying, but a bit of super glue in each one, and they’ve never needed a second fix. It would also be nice if the power cords were longer, but you can put them all into a power strip and turn all three on and off at once.
